APA Advocacy Action Day 2019

Get ready for the first-ever APA Advocacy Action Day on August 20.

APA is asking Congress to prioritize four policy ideas in the nation's next surface transportation law and to increase critical funding for federal transportation and community development programs through the FY 2020 appropriations process. While the current surface transportation law does not expire until September 2020, work is happening now in Congress and planners have the power to influence the final legislative outcome.

How can you help next Tuesday?
Write two emails to your members of Congress on surface transportation and T-HUD appropriations. Use APA's pre-drafted letters to get started.

Your work does not stop there
Share the alerts with 10 coworkers or colleagues and email APA at when you do. Use the APA Advocacy Action Day toolkit, which includes a logo, social media graphics, and social media copy, on or before August 20 to spread the word.

We want to send at least 2,000 emails to Congress by the end of August recess.
With your help, we can get it done.

Carry our message to Capitol Hill
Build on your August advocacy momentum this fall at the 2019 Policy and Advocacy Conference, September 23-25, in Washington, DC. Close out the conference on Capitol Hill where you'll meet face-to-face with your elected officials and their staff to talk transportation reauthorization and funding.

Understand the issues
We released earlier this month new Planners' Advocacy Network-exclusive training materials, including three videos, that answer questions ranging from 'what is appropriations?' to 'what is the current legislative status of transportation reauthorization in Congress?' Access these training tools to take your advocacy to the next level. You will need your APA username and password to access the content.
