APAS Update

By Kate Lucas, Student Representative

The 2017-2018 school year has been a busy one so far for the APA Student Chapter. We held our first meeting of the school year in late August, which had a great turnout! In September, APAS organized a group of students to attend a Rockies game, and launched the Fall 2017 job shadowing program at the second general meeting at the end of the month. A huge thank you to all the cities, counties, firms, organizations, and individuals who chose to participate!

APAS kicked off the month of October by attending and volunteering at the state conference in Telluride. The next week, APAS provided student volunteers at the Association of Collegiate Schools of Planning conference in Denver, and sponsored a MURP potluck at Wash Park on Sunday, October 15th. Last week, APAS hosted a joint happy hour with the Master of Urban and Regional Planning Alumni Association (MURPAA), as well as a lunch and learn guest lecture with David Pulsipher, Denver’s first full-time pedestrian planner.

We have been very pleased with the level of student involvement so far this year, and are thrilled to continue into the coming year!
