This workshop will cover three areas of architectural regulations: Policy and intent of regulations, Materials and Construction techniques, and Working with regulations from the development side. It will include a discussion on how to create architectural review regulations, including policy and intent of regulations, an overview of materials and construction techniques to inform architectural regulations, and how the regulations work in practice from the development side.

By the end of this session attendees should have a good idea about how to write regulations with intent and policy to guide those regulations, they should have a good overview of materials, techniques and terminology to ensure the regulations are readable and that they make sense, and that regulators have an idea of what they are looking at during the review of any project, and attendees should learn how to write regulations so they are effective and useful in practice, based on real world experience from those who’ve had to work through the regulations.
