Colorado's population is projected to grow by over 3 million by 2050. How communities plan for this growth is key to the long-term health and vitality of the state. This workshop will equip local government staff and their partners with information and strategies to proactively plan for community development in the wake of demographic changes to come. Topics to be addressed include planning for housing choices and affordability, reducing risk from hazards, and integrating water and land use planning. Through planning tools and resources as well as local case studies, participants will be poised to better address development challenges and seize opportunities. This workshop is presented by the Colorado Department of Local Affairs in collaboration with the APA Colorado; City of Lakewood; Colorado Counties, Inc; Colorado Municipal League; Denver Regional Council of Governments; and Housing Colorado.
