Ever wonder how the Denver Federal Center came to be?  Join your APA colleagues from FEMA and visit the Center the afternoon of June 29th (2:00 pm until …).  Andrea Collins, Regional Historic Preservation Officer with the General Services Administration and Katy Lewis, Director of Lakewood’s Heritage Center will tell the story of the Federal Center’s origins (think “Ordnance” not “Ordinance”) in the context of development in the area that would become the City of Lakewood.  We’ll also beat the summer heat by touring the U.S. Geological Survey’s Ice Core Lab and get a chance to talk with a “real” scientist, Richard Nunn, about their work preserving and studying ice from around the world.  The afternoon concludes with a social hour on the deck at Simm’s Steakhouse overlooking the Denver Metro skyline.

Members/EPP/Students: $10
Non-Members: $15
