Workshop: Incorporating Water-Saving Actions into Land Use Planning

Workshop:Incorporating Water-Saving Actions into Land Use Planning
Thursday, Aug. 23, 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m., Denver

Who should attend– While this workshop is intended for elected officials like city councilors, and we also strongly encourage multiple people from a municipality to attend to maximize the effectiveness of the information shared.  This may include land use planners, water utility staff and others.

Description:A growing population and expanding economy are often welcome signs of community vitality. However, rapid growth can strain increasingly limited natural resources like water if that growth is not matched by thoughtful planning initiatives. Better integration of water and land use planning is critically important for long-term water sustainability in Colorado.

This workshop will explain how better land use and water integration can be achieved, explore the benefits and realities of the processes, highlight case studies from across Colorado, and provide concrete action items for decision makers based on the needs and interests of the participants.

Sponsored by CML, Western Resource Advocates, and the Babbitt Center for Land and Water Policy.
