Farmers Market Food Access Coordinator (Part-time, seasonal)

Job Description
Boulder County Farmers Markets (BCFM) is hiring a part-time Food Access Coordinator to work at their Boulder Farmers Markets. This position will pay $15 per hour with 20 to 30 hours of work during market season (April through November).

We are seeking an energetic and talented individual who is capable of working independently and as a team, able to multi-task and handle a wide variety of job responsibilities. Ideal candidate should have a passion for food access issues and local food, speak fluent Spanish and English, enjoy working in a team and independently, and thrive in a physical work environment in all weather conditions. Good customer service skills are a must.

The Food Access Coordinator will be the primary contact at the famers market for SNAP and WIC recipients. Job responsibilities include monitoring and overseeing SNAP redemption and matching dollars distribution, overseeing WIC voucher distribution, set-up and breakdown of market booth, data entry and managing Double Up Food Bucks and WIC surveys. The Food Access Coordinator will do community outreach to promote Double Up Food Bucks and the WIC farmers market programs. Community outreach will include tabling at community events and community partner organizations and seeking out innovative ways to advertise the Double Up Food Bucks and WIC programs. The Food access coordinator will manage the Double Up Food Buck Ambassador Program. This will include scheduling of volunteers to work at the market, training of volunteers, and distributing incentives to volunteers.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Help with weekly logistics and market operations – i.e. set-up and breakdown of market,
  • Direct customer service,
  • Manage surveys with SNAP and WIC recipients,
  • Engage with community for outreach initiatives and promotion,
  • Oversee Double Up Food Buck Advocate Volunteer Program,
  • Provide general support to the BCFM team, including training market staff about Double Up Food Bucks and the WIC farmers market program
  • Maintain EBT equipment.


  • Fluent in English and Spanish.
  • Knowledge of SNAP (Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program) and WIC (Women Infants and Children)
  • Available to work Saturday, Wednesdays
    • Boulder Saturday, 7am-4pm (April through November)
    • Boulder Wednesday, 3-9pm (May through October).
  • Capable of performing physically demanding work including working outdoors year round.
  • Must have strong interpersonal skills as the work involves significant interaction with other staff, market patrons, and members of the community.
  • Strong knowledge and commitment to food access issues in the region.

Position Structure/Timing :  Reports directly to Operations Manager.

Wages and Benefits
This is an unbenefited, part-time position, 20-30 hours per week, $15/hr.
