Job Description

Boulder County Land Use Department is seeking an experienced planner to fill a Planner II position and join a team committed to providing the best in public service and ensuring the community has a viable, sustainable and safe future. This is a highly visible, journey level position responsible for performing a variety of professional level work in the areas of development review and current planning.

This is a full-time, benefited position. This position will work Monday - Friday, from 8:00 am - 4:30 pm, totaling 40 hours per week. This position will work out of Boulder, CO. Under FLSA guidelines, this position is exempt from overtime.

Hiring Range: $56,736.00 annually
Salary Range: $56,736.00 - $81,708.00 annually

 
 

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

The Planner II will manage the following tasks:
  • Providing information and assistance to developers and the public regarding planning related matters
  • Researching prior development decisions and actions applicable to specific requests on land parcels
  • Preparing and presenting staff recommendations on complex land use dockets to the Planning Commission and the Board of County Commissioners
  • Coordinating referrals and responses concerning land use dockets from other agencies
  • Conducting pre-application meetings with applicants to explain departmental procedures, land use regulations, and policies
  • Building permit review and coordination with building division staff
  • Performing other related duties as required
 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor's degree in Planning or related field.
EXPERIENCE: 
  • Two years of professional experience in urban, rural, regional, transportation, parks or community planning, or other related field.
Additional related education may count towards required experience.

BACKGROUND CHECK:

  • A job offer is contingent on passing a criminal background investigation
DRIVER'S LICENSE:
  • Applicants must have a valid driver's license, good driving record and current automobile insurance

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A design background with experience in site plan review, environmental analysis, or landscape architecture
  • AICP capabilities
  • GIS capabilities
