Job Description

Grand County seeks a technical inspector and community liaison to inspect facilities in Grand County including oil and gas industry and the US-DOE Moab Uranium Mill Tailings Remedial Action.  The successful candidate will become an employee of Grand County government in a position partially funded by a US-DOE grant. The desirable candidate will have familiarity with chemical process equipment, technical projects, regulatory matters, and environmental monitoring, and be able to evaluate and effectively explain to elected officials and the public the implications of relevant reports and documents.  The desirable candidate will be able to work a flexible, self-directed part-time schedule (20-25 hours per week), be comfortable with public presentations, drive to inspection sites up to 100 miles from Moab 2-3 times each month, and be prepared to travel to remote desert, canyon country and high mesa environments on day trips.
