2021 DRCOG Virtual Citizen's Academy

It's the last chance to apply for the spring 2021 virtual Citizens' Academy. The application period closes at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 24.

Whether you're planning to submit an application or encouraging someone within your network to apply, please do so soon! The spring academy will meet every Thursday evening for seven weeks, beginning April 1. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the academy will again be held virtually on Zoom.

Through the nationally recognized Citizens’ Academy, participants learn from local experts and leaders, network with other residents and act on what they’ve learned. Since 2007, over 900 residents from around the region have completed the academy. It is a great opportunity for emerging leaders interested in learning more about regional issues and developing their civic capacity.
Topics covered will include transportation, economic vitality, housing, civic engagement and more. Each session of the course will consist of presentations by subject matter experts, small group interactions and networking. Beyond the group sessions, participants will develop individual action plans to put into place upon completing the academy.
