Mitigating Hazards Though Land Use Solutions Workshop

When: June 7, 2018
Where: The location is to be determined, but it will be centrally located for participating communities.

The Department of Local Affairs (DOLA), the Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management (DHSEM), and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) invite you to a one-day workshop to kick-off implementation of land use solutions that can reduce the impacts of hazards in your community.

This workshop is free of charge to accepted communities and is an ideal opportunity for:

  • Jurisdictions that are currently, or will soon be, updating their Comprehensive Land Use/Development/Building and Zoning Codes and Policies
  • Counties that are beginning or have recently completed the process of updating their FEMA-approved Hazard Mitigation Plan and would like to develop specific land use tools to achieve their mitigation goals
  • Municipalities that would like to minimize the level of damage caused by hazards such as wildfires, geologic concerns, or floods by making updates to their development and redevelopment standards

Application deadline is January 31st, 2018
