Title: Assistant Community Development Director
Company/Employer: Town of Breckenridge

Tells us a little about yourself professionally.
I am the Assistant Community Development Director at the Town of Breckenridge. Our Department covers of Current and Long Range Planning, Building, Sustainability and Housing & Childcare. I have been in the planning field for twenty years, all of which have been for mountain communities in Colorado.

Tell us how you got into planning.
I actually thought that I would be working for environmental non-profits when I started off my career however, twenty years ago, that was a fairly new career path and it was difficult to find a job in the mountains. I fell into the planning field, loved it, and never looked back.

Tell us a little about yourself outside of planning.
I love living an active lifestyle in the mountains with my husband and two boys, skiing, hiking, paddle boarding, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.

Who is your planning hero or role model?
Jane Jacobs.

What makes planning special/interesting/difficult/fun in Colorado?
Colorado consists of beautifully unique cities and towns, open spaces and wilderness areas. With a population passionate about the places we love to live in, whether it be in the mountains, historic mining towns, big cities, suburbs, or rolling plains, planners in Colorado get to play the part of educator and influencer in our communities to ensure that Colorado remain the wonderfully diverse place that we know and love.
