WEBINAR: The Importance of Geographic Approach to Planning

Tuesday, September 13
11:00 AM - 12:30 PM
Hosted by Smart Growth Online & Maryland Dept. of Planning
As communities are addressing issues of housing affordability and supply and updating their transportation plans, comprehensive plans, and zoning ordinances, planners are using GIS-based mapping and data tools to develop plan alternatives and to engage the public in identifying, understanding and evaluating potential solutions.
This is occurring as recent technology advancements no longer require planners to be GIS experts to analyze large datasets or create data and mapping platforms the public can easily understand and use.
Join the Maryland Department of Planning and Smart Growth Network on September 13 as Keith Cooke of ESRI outlines how a geographic-based approach to planning can help communities use GIS and GIS-based platforms effectively in their planning efforts.
This program will be one in a series of webinars between the Maryland Department of Planning and ESRI that will look at the state of GIS-based platforms and how communities are using them to address a variety of planning issues.
Participants of the live webinar are eligible for 1.5 AICP CM credits (live attendance required).
If unable to attend, the recording will be posted at after the live program. (Recorded version not available for CM credits)
