DENVER REGIONAL COUNCIL OF GOVERNMENTS OPEN POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT: PLANNER III (August 2018) ABOUT LIVING AND WORKING IN THE DENVER REGION Located at the base of the Rocky Mountains, the Denver region is one of America's most beautiful areas. Here you'll find the nation's largest city park system, 90 golf courses and an incredible 850 miles of paved bike trails. DRCOG's office is located in downtown Denver, the tenth largest downtown in the United States. Downtown Denver, a lively area centered around a mile-long pedestrian promenade, is home to three new sports stadiums; 300 restaurants; a restored historic district filled with dining and entertainment options; a collection of museums, galleries and shopping opportunities; the second-largest performing arts complex in the nation; three college campuses; and even a unique downtown amusement park.

ABOUT THE DENVER REGIONAL COUNCIL OF GOVERNMENTS (DRCOG) DRCOG is a nonprofit collaborative association governed by a Board of Directors representing 56 county and municipal governments. Board members work together to make the nine-county Denver region a great place to live, work and play. Through Metro Vision, the plan to manage growth over the next 25 years, the region's local governments work cooperatively to address development, land use, transportation, environmental quality and older adult issues. DRCOG has served as the region's forum for major policy issues for nearly 60 years.

* Supports efforts to develop, update, and implement Metro Vision, DRCOG's long-range plan for the growth and development of the Denver Region.
*Conducts analysis using economic forecasting and land use modeling tools.
*Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to develop, assess and complete planning, research and forecasting projects.
*Participates in all aspects of socioeconomic research, analysis and modeling and facilitates responses to data and information requests.
*Directs cross-divisional development of quantitative and qualitative data and information needed to track progress on Metro Vision outcomes and objectives, including building institutional capacity to help define, test and apply measures.
*Conducts actionable research on growth and development trends for use by local governments, DRCOG and regional stakeholders.
*Supports regional and local scenario analysis to study the impacts of alternative land use and development patterns, including use of visualization tools.
*Prepares reports, studies and presentations for print and web distribution, including complex research findings and policy recommendations that must be understandable to audiences with varied levels of understanding of DRCOG and its programs.
*Builds and maintains effective relationships with local government elected officials and staff, as well as with other regional planning partners.
*Manage other projects and programs that support the implementation of Metro Vision, as assigned.
*Supports, coordinates and conducts workshops, webinars and other appropriate public and stakeholder involvement activities.
*Provides staff assistance, either in a lead or support capacity, to committees involved in regional planning activities.
*Prepares Board and committee agendas, resolutions and memos.
*Exerts technical supervision over assigned planning and support staff.

Education and experience requirements:
*Master's degree in urban or regional planning or related field.
*Three years relevant experience.
*Equivalent combination of applicable education and experience.
*AICP preferred, but not required.

STATUS: Full-time, Non-exempt
