Northwest

Welcome Northwest Area Planners (AKA Western Slope North):

I am glad that you stopped to check out this page. As the Northwest Area Representative, I will be working to schedule training and social events in the Northwest area during my term. Please contact me if you have ideas or suggestions for activities that would benefit our APA Colorado members is this area. I am look forward to working with you to ensure that your APA needs are being met. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or comments you may have.

Area Interesting Facts:
Population: The Western Slope region is sparsely populated, containing 38% of Colorado's area but only 10.7% of its population. The most populated area of the Western Slope is known as the Tri County area, which contains Grand Junction, Montrose, and Delta. A Rocky Mountain PBS News analysis of data from the state demographer and the U.S. Census Bureau shows, seven of the 10 fastest growing counties will be on the Western Slope, including Garfield and Montrose. Economy:
The primary economic activities within this APA Region are ranching, mining, and tourism. Fruit farming is also prevalent in areas along the Colorado and Gunnison rivers, including the Grand Valley. Much of the area's economy is dependent upon energy extraction services and tourism. Though our mission as planners is to reduce our carbon footprints, the region contains sources of oil, natural gas, uranium, and coal.
This APA Region is also known worldwide for its ski resorts and mountain biking. Popular destinations such as Crested Butte and Powderhorn Resort are great in the winter time, and mountain biking in this region is year round!

Let’s add more and interesting stuff!!!

Sincerely,

Ethan Mobley, AICP
