Andy Hill wins APA Colorado Planning Leadership Award

PlanCOS as a Cutting Edge Comprehensive Plan

PlanCOS is Colorado Springs’ first new Comprehensive Plan since 2001. This plan, and the efforts behind it, were recognized with Colorado APA’s 2019 Honor Award in the General Planning category. Colorado Springs recently teamed up Aurora and Centennial at the 2019 COAPA Conference to talk about how each of our award winning and innovative comprehensive plans are changing the face of how we create, design and use our plans. This article highlights how we did things differently, and why.

Winter Park’s Aspirational Approach to Comprehensive Planning: Imagine Winter Park

Imagine Winter Park is the Town’s Comprehensive Plan that will direct the growth of Winter Park over the next 10-15 years. The aspirational approach taken here is unique in that it focuses on clearly identifying the community’s desired future instead of prescriptive solutions on how to achieve that future. This allows the plan to respond to both challenges and opportunities that did not exist when the plan was created.
