After numerous instances of severe flooding in northeast Denver, in 2015 the City and County of Denver began a new stormwater infrastructure initiative to address flood protection in five neighborhoods in Denver. The City adopted a multi-layered approach to the Platte to Park Hill Stormwater Systems Program that provides flood protection to over 5,000 homes and strengthens multimodal connections and increases recreation in historically disconnected and underserved neighborhoods.
