Bringing Community Engagement to the Street

The Golden Triangle Neighborhood Plan was an important step in the evolution of this eclectic, creative district in Downtown Denver. The diverse community is informed, active and full of critical thinkers. They had high expectations for innovative planning, design and economic development. And they required planning processes that engage beyond the typical workshop/charrette format. From this need and setting, “Triangle Transformations” was born. This outdoor, take-it-to-the-streets, “pop-up workshop” engaged community members in ways that were unprecedented in the Denver area.

Cortez Heart and Soul receives Colorado APA Merit Award

The Cortez Heart & Soul Project won a merit award from Colorado APA for Community Engagement. The project is a community driven values identification process with numerous methods of engagement and a wide range of participants. Among the many outcomes of the project was the adoption by the city of eight values statements and a community action plan. The values identified during the project will inform a land-use code update currently underway.

City of Centennial: Citywide Rezoning Public Outreach Process

In 2010, the City of Centennial completed a two-year process to rewrite its 30 year old Land Development Code. Following adoption of the new code, city staff legislatively rezoned more than 32,000 properties over a five year period at a total project cost of approximately $16,000.00.
