Integrating Water into Land Use Planning

LULA Trainings Encourage “Water Smart” Land-Use Planning

Nearly 30 Front Range planners and experts recently completed a first-of-its-kind workshop focused on integrating water planning and urban development. The Land Use Leadership Alliance Training Program (LULA), taught by Pace University Law Center professors and sponsored by Western Resource Advocates (WRA), is designed to foster dialogue and collaboration between city managers, planners, developers, water providers, and local elected officials. The training, which is new to Colorado and the first in the West to connect water and land-use planning, attracted professionals from the growing Front Range communities of Arvada, Aurora, Castle Rock, Parker, and Thornton, as well as Denver.
